A note before the fine print
We believe software should respect the people who use it.
These terms exist to set clear expectations, not to trap anyone in clever language. They explain how our products work, what you can expect from us, and what we need from you in return.
If you’re looking for loopholes, you won’t find many.
If you’re looking for clarity, you will.
Who we are
Soft Enough is operated by Soft Enough L.L.C., a Colorado-based company.
This Legal page applies to:
- The Soft Enough website
- Downloadable software and updates
- Any related services we offer
If something isn’t covered here, we’ll try to say so plainly.
Privacy
We collect as little data as possible and only for operational reasons.
In short:
- We do not sell your data
- We do not track you for advertising
- We do not harvest analytics “just because”
If you leave comments, sign up for updates, or make a purchase, we collect only what’s necessary to make those things work.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy page. If something ever changes materially, we’ll say so.
Software licenses and ownership
What you own
Anything you create using Soft Enough software belongs to you.
Your writing, timelines, notes, images, audio, data, and other creative output are yours to keep, export, back up, delete, or set on fire dramatically if you want.
We do not claim ownership over your work.
What you’re buying
When you purchase Soft Enough software, you are purchasing a license to use the software, not ownership of the software itself.
This is standard, boring, and unavoidable. What matters is how that license behaves.
How our licenses behave
- Licenses are pay-once unless explicitly stated otherwise
- An initial online verification is required to activate the software on a new device.
- Each license may be activated on up to ten personal devices
- After activation, the software is designed to function offline-first
- No recurring online checks are required for normal use
- “Offline-first” means the software prioritizes local files, local control, and continued usability without a persistent internet connection. It does not mean anonymous or unlicensed use.
Full legal details live in our End User License Agreement (EULA), linked below. This page summarizes it; the EULA governs if there’s ever a conflict.
What we mean by “offline-first”
Soft Enough software requires an internet connection only for initial license verification and device registration. Once activated, the software is intended to remain usable without ongoing network access.
We believe paying customers shouldn’t lose access to their tools because they’re offline. We also believe licensing should be fair, finite, and transparent.
Terms of sale
If you purchase something from us:
- Prices are listed in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise
- Digital products are delivered electronically
- Refunds, if offered, are described at the point of sale
- Taxes are handled according to applicable law
We try to be reasonable. We also try not to be ambiguous.
Modding and contributions
Some Soft Enough tools support modding or extension. Participation is optional.
If you create a mod, plugin, or extension for Soft Enough software:
- You own your work
- You decide how and where it’s shared
- You are responsible for maintaining it
If you choose to submit a contribution for inclusion, distribution, or official support:
- You grant us permission to use, distribute, and adapt that contribution as needed
- You retain ownership of your original work
- No rights are taken beyond what’s necessary to make collaboration possible
We support modding because it expands what tools can do. We draw boundaries so that collaboration remains sustainable and respectful for everyone involved.
Details are covered in the Modding Addendum and Contributor License Agreement, linked below. This section summarizes intent; the linked documents govern specifics.
Promotion of community mods
We may choose which community-created mods or extensions to highlight, link to, or reference on this website or elsewhere.
Any promotion or official reference will be done only with the explicit permission of the creator.
We are not obligated to promote any mod, and inclusion or exclusion does not imply endorsement, rejection, or support status.
Disclaimers
The software is provided “as is.”
We do our best to make things stable, usable, and durable. That said:
- Bugs happen
- Data can be lost if you don’t back it up
- Software cannot anticipate every possible use case
We are not responsible for lost profits, lost data, or damages resulting from misuse, modification, or assumptions the software never promised to fulfill.
This is not cruelty. It’s realism.
Changes to these terms
If we update these terms:
- We’ll update the “Last updated” date
- Material changes will be communicated clearly
- We won’t retroactively rewrite history
Continuing to use the site or software after changes means you accept the updated terms.

SOFTWARE PRIVACY ADDENDUM

Paid software requires license keys for activation.
Keys require an initial online verification and may be associated with up to ten devices per license. After verification, the software is intended to function offline.
Verification data may include the license key, software version, and a non-invasive device identifier. This data is used only to validate licenses and prevent abuse. It is not used for tracking, profiling, or advertising.
What we do not collect
We do not collect:
- Writing or project content
- Usage analytics
- Behavioral metrics
- Keystrokes or interaction patterns
- Data sold to third parties
Mods and third-party extensions
Mods are created and distributed by third parties. Soft Enough does not audit or monitor mod behavior and is not responsible for their data practices. If you install mods, review their privacy practices separately.

Closing note
We don’t believe trust comes from burying people in text.
Clear tools deserve clear terms.
That’s the whole point.
